When should I stop wearing short shorts?

Due to the length of my last two posts, I’m going to keep this one sweet and short. Todays post focuses on my internal self-conflict with when I should stop wearing short shorts. I have recently graduated university and my fashion sense hasn’t changed much since highschool. Basically what I’m trying to say is I feel like I’m still dressing up like a teenager.
Short shorts (not booty shorts) symbolize summer, and they are my go to shorts because I am letting my legs breathe, I don’t sweat as much, and I don’t get a weird tan on my legs. Doesn’t matter if they’re jean, sweatpant, spandex, neoprene, khaki, cotton, and latex material, short shorts are short shorts (that was weird to write).

I am not in any way self-conscious of my legs; I am thankful to not have any scars, stretch marks, and birthmarks (although I would embrace each and every one of those). I just occasionally have hair growing which requires to reach a certain length before I can wax it. The only reason I feel guilty wearing short shorts is because few people in my age group wear them (not including celebrities and models). I wish I had more expertise in fashion and I was more comfortable deviating from my “comfortable” style to not wear short shorts anymore, but sooner then later they keep making a comeback in my closet.
I only have one pair of longer shorts (just above the knee), and I only wear those when I want to seem more professional. It’s nice that my legs no longer get stuck to the leather seats, and I don’t feel uncomfortable in front of an employer or my boyfriends’ family, but I’m just not physically comfortable in those. And they do not go with any top in my closet.
So I think for now I’m going to stick to wearing short shorts when I’m with close friends and family, and when the time calls to look a little more professional, I will wear my appropriate, mature, yet uncomfortable clothes. And I’m not talking about dressing like my grandma, just covering the arms, thighs, and cleavage. I’ll probably stop wearing short shorts at 40 – unless I will look like Cameron Diaz (I’ll never stop wearing short shorts if I look like her). I just have to find a fashion mogul on social media that has a similar taste in fairly priced, easily accessible clothing. Anyone recommend a fashion icon or an individual on social media they look up to for fashion?
